We all grieve. We are bound to. Arent we wired that way? Isn’t the love of this world and the people, places, and attachments too strong in our hearts?  Perpetually, for some, grief comes quickly, while for others, it takes time. In a world full of material, there are very few who actually grieve. But the main question remains, are we even allowed to grieve?

There are 5 stages of Grief

  1. Denial – It is characterized by avoidance, procrastination, forgetting, getting easily distracted, and mindless behavior.
  2. Anger – Characterized by pessimism (frustration), cynicism (impatience), sarcasm (resentment), irritability (embarrassment), aggression, and rage.
  3. Bargaining – It is characterized by ruminating on the future or past, assuming the worst, perfectionism, judgments for others, and overthinking.
  4. Depression – It is characterized by sleep and appetite changes, reduced energy, lack of social interest, no motivation, crying, feeling overwhelmed hopelessness, sadness, despair, helplessness, and disappointment.
  5. Acceptance – Finally, this is all about mindful behavior, engaging with reality, courageous behavior, validation, being in the present moment, self-compassion, ability to be vulnerable, tolerate emotions, pride, assertive, non-defensive, honest communication, wisdom, adapting, coping, and responding skillfully.
